Playgroup FacilityPoyntzpass Community Regeneration Company Limited was formed by local residents in April 2000. Poyntzpass was designated for assistance under the International Fund for Ireland 's Community Property Development Scheme and the community group demolished a derelict property at 16 to 18 Church Street , Poyntzpass to construct a new building containing:

  • a purpose built pre-school playgroup facility with outdoor play area;
  • a sizeable meeting room for a variety of activities for young and old;
  • and three commercial units for letting to the private sector.

Financial support, as well as help and advice was provided by: Armagh City and District Council; the International Fund for Ireland; the Rural Development Council; The Big Lottery, the Office of the First and Deputy First Minister, Planning Service; the Department for Social Development; the Ulster Community Investment Trust, and the Community Foundation for Northern Ireland.

GardenThe project aims to benefit the inhabitants of Poyntzpass through the provision of a neutral venue with community and social facilities for use by all sections of the community including children, young people and older people. The project aims to enhance community involvement and promote the physical and economic regeneration of the village. Dancing


Our facilities will be used to promote life long learning across all age groups which will enhance employment opportunities and improve the quality of life for all participants.

The project will provide the people of Poyntzpass with an opportunity to participate in the building of community relations. It will address the needs of marginalised youth in a rural community and provide a venue for existing cross community groups to develop.
